Discontinue Service

When moving to a new residence, there are always lots of last minute details. One convenience we offer is to stop your MidAmerican Energy gas and/or electric service online.

The Request to Stop Service needs to be submitted to MidAmerican Energy Company at least two business days (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) prior to the date you would like your service disconnected. The date you request may not be available due to schedule restrictions. We make every effort to accommodate your request. |

Our field service work is completed Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Please consider this when requesting your stop date. |

If your gas and/or electric meters are located inside, we will need access to them. |
 |
 |
When you request termination of gas service and no one has requested new service, the meter will be read to finalize your account, but the meter will be left on. |
 |
 |
Please be aware that your gas service may remain on even if the electric service is off. Proper precautions should be taken before connection or disconnection of appliances or while performing pipe system maintenance or modifications. |

 |
If you have a deposit with MidAmerican Energy or have a credit amount on your account, the balance will be applied to your final bill. If the credited amount exceeds your final bill, MidAmerican will issue you a refund. |

If moving to a new address served by MidAmerican Energy, use our convenient Application to Start Service. |
