Customer Information
Customer Guide: Choosing to Change

If you decide to choose a different supplier, you must provide written authorization to the new supplier before that supplier can switch your electric service from MidAmerican Energy. It is the responsibility of the new supplier to obtain verifiable authorization from you in the form of a signed Letter of Authorization.
Letter of Authorization forms should contain the following information:
Your name |
Address where you want service |
Your mailing address |
Your account number |
Your electric meter number |
Date of agreement |
Details of various charges |
Your signature |
Your supplier's responsibilities. Before beginning to provide service, a supplier must disclose to a customer certain terms and conditions including:
The rate charged by the supplier and any additional charges the customer must pay. |
A statement reiterating that the
Letter of Authorization authorizes the supplier to receive customer information. |
A statement indicating which electric service associated with the account number will be switched to the supplier. For example, if you have outdoor electric security lighting, the supplier should disclose to you whether the outdoor lighting would be switched. |
Any charges the customer may have to pay if they choose a different supplier. |
After you sign an agreement with another supplier, that new supplier will notify MidAmerican. MidAmerican will send you a confirmation of the switch, including the date on which service will begin with your new supplier. The switch date normally will be
your scheduled meter read date. |
