Customer Guide: Consumer Risks

 |
 |
Switching – If you choose a retail electric supplier, there is no guarantee that you will save money on your electric bills. Be sure to ask the supplier whether you will face any risks by switching to the supplier.
Ask the supplier if there is a minimum term for which supply
must be purchased (for example, 12 months). Select Checklist For Choosing A Supplier for questions you may want to ask a potential retail electric supplier.

Returning to bundled service – MidAmerican Energy's delivery
service tariffs allow eligible residential and small business
customers to return to bundled service. If you lose your source of
electric supply (for example, if your supplier withdraws from the
market or drops you as a customer), you are placed on MidAmerican's
Interim Supply Service for up to two monthly billing cycles.
Interim Supply Service rates, which are temporary, may be higher than
bundled service rates. During this period, a different retail electric supplier may be
chosen.
Following the Interim Supply Service period, if another supplier is
not chosen, the account is reviewed to determine bundled service
eligibility. It may be necessary to complete an application for
service and pay a deposit. You may not be eligible for the same
bundled service rate that you were on prior to your switch to the
retail electric supplier.
Once you have returned to a bundled service rate, you will not be
eligible to choose another supplier for 12 months. |
